Saturday, October 17, 2010, 8am-please let me know if you plan to attend. Finish up work on Saturday, October 31st, 8am.
How we will do the work: We will break into groups. Xander has made wooden tripods. We will hang a cable puller (a come along) to a chain on the tripod and slowly lift up the headstone, which might be up to 20” deep in the ground. We can also use a pry bar very carefully and dig with shovels too if we have enough Scouts for several workgroups. We will then add new sand to the hole and reset the stone. Later I will put a special chemical on the front to clear old moss and mold. We will also do general cleanup at the cemetery.
Time: arrive at house at 8:00am; we will depart for the cemetery at 8:20am and begin by 9:00am
What to bring: a pair of work gloves per volunteer
Where: Elmwood Cemetery, 4900 Truman Road Kansas City, MO (east of downtown) 4700 E Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64127, Map.
